This activity includes an advanced evidence based discussion of appropriate categorization of patients with venous insufficiency and determines which patients should be treated and why. New methods and nuances of old methods are discussed as well as complicating factors and disease processes. A final discussion of future research opportunities rounds out the activity.

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of interventional radiologists and other physicians at all levels with special interest in venous insufficiency.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this enduring activity, participants should be able to:

• Identify patients who will significantly benefit from venous insufficiency treatment based on appropriate categorization of the disease state
• Summarize early data on new techniques and optimization of old techniques for treatment of the saphenous veins
• Discuss the role of chronic deep venous thrombosis and lymphedema in the evaluation and treatment of patients with venous insufficiency
• Frame the discussion for the future of venous disease and research opportunities
